Psychology of Vision, the Unity Church, and Oneness University

Dec. 5, 2017

A recent announcement for a workshop brought to mind the complicated and difficult to document relationship between Psychology of Vision, the Unity Church, and Oneness University.

The workshop is presented by Michael Palmer, who was at one time a POV trainer in Canada. Here's a link to one of his past workshops:

The current workshop, where the blurb gives the impression Mr. Palmer is still a POV trainer (he isn't), is being hosted by Unity of Edmonton [Alberta]:

Chuck Spezzano served as the interim minister for the Windward Unity Church in Kailua, Hawaii, 1983-1984. It was also during this time he was falsely merchandised as a "leading edge psychologist" in an advertisement before Spezzano even had a staff he could blame for spreading this misinformation (decades later Lency Spezzano blamed the POV minions for spreading this fable in her "Truth" screed). This suggests the fake credentials of Spezzano being a "psychologist" or even a "clinical psychologist" now accepted as fact by many of the POV followers started quite early and the responsibility for this lie originated at the source.

Now for the murky part, as explained in the link:
"In present times the Unity Church in the USA appears to be in some sort of power struggle between the traditional members and the followers of Amma and Bhagavan (Oneness University). The Spezzanos attended Oneness University in 2007 and incorporated many OU practices into the POV program (Deeksha blessings, praise and adulation for Amma/Bhagavan, etc.) but at some point, ca. 2011 they began to distance themselves, vilifying OU and denying the India-based cult had any influence on them at all. The documentation on this blog demonstrates OU had an enormous impact on POV."

In the space of just a few years, Oneness University went from one of the Spezzanos two "greatest inspirations" to being condemned and wiped from the POV record. I'm still trying to sort that one out and wonder if the Unity Church had any role in this drama. Some Unity churches embrace Deeksha blessings and Oneness University, others do not.
